Precision Model with 9 Planets & 28 Moons
The SolarSphere™ model of the solar system represents the correct relative orbital speeds of the planets, as well as the relative orbital motion of Earth's moon. Historically, a SolarSphere™ only displayed the planets visible to the naked eye up to Saturn, as they were developed in the early 18th century.
Our model showcases 9 planets, including Pluto, and 28 moons. Earth's lunar system demonstrates the combined motion of the moon's orbit around Earth, while Earth orbits around the Sun.
Mercury orbits 1028 times for every orbit of Pluto. Mercury takes approximately 4 seconds to complete an orbit, while Pluto takes around 4 hours. The Sun, 9 planets, and 28 moons are made of beautiful spheres of semi-precious stones. Brass planets with a stone moon are also available by special order only. The operation is battery-powered unless stated otherwise in the preferences.
The mechanism is fully visible beneath the orbiting planet and constitutes a fascinating display of moving solid brass gears.
In fine woodworking, a twelve-sided oak barrel, supported by 12 solid brass feet, elegantly presents the SolarSphere™.
